hot or iced white chocolate macadamia nut "latte"
my husband and i have "tea time" every morning before he leaves to work. it is our minute and i love it so much. we pray, express gratitude, and enjoy a nice hot (or chilled) cup of superfood tea to start off the day perfectly. last night i soaked some macadamia nuts because i had this "white chocolate macadamia" flavor on my mind.... so this morning i blended up something rather delightful.
1/4 c raw Mac nuts soaked overnight & drained
1/2 c water (option to use tea or coffee of choice instead)
1/2 c coconut milk
1/2 t vanilla bean powder
pinch of sea salt + nutmeg
2 T raw honey or stevia to taste
2 T raw cacao butter, chopped
-add everything to a high speed blender and blend several times until very smooth. if you like it hot, run it through the blender and extra time to gently heat it up, or add ice for a chilled summer treat.
note: i also added in one of my favorite brain-boosting medicinal mushroom powders for a little extra oomph this morning...get creative!

mocha pumpkin superfood frappe!
all things pumpkin are on my mind at this time of year! and since it is still 80 degrees here in LB, I'm not quite in the mood for my usual super herb pumpkin hot chocolate- so i made a smoothie version to get in that pumpkin spirit!
i include a few of my new favorite superfood mixes from longevity warehouse that i have been absolutely loving lately! if you wish to try them, i highly recommend it! or, you can add your favorite mixes/superfoods that you have on hand at home! to purchase these products &/or read of their amazing benefits, you can go here.
the first one i added 1 scoop of, and contains the following: *Raw Lucuma Powder, Rice Bran Solubles, *Inulin Powder (FOS), *Raw Cacao Powder, *6-Mushroom Blend Extract Powder, *Raw Maca Powder, Himalayan Salt, *Raw Baobab Powder, *Vanilla Flavor Powder, *Proprietary Vegetable Blend (*Broccoli, *Broccoli Sprouts, *Tomato, *Carrot, *Spinach, *Kale), *Turmeric Extract Powder, *Stevia Extract Powder *Indicates Organic
the second one is similar, but a bit more protein: "Immortal Machine is a powerful combination of pure Superfoods and medicinal herbs designed to support peak performance in fighters, athletes, dancers, weekend warriors, and anyone seeking to intensify their positive output. Not only is Immortal Machine good for you, but the taste is out of this world. No other nutrition drink tastes this good!" my daily smoothie routine as of late
i get asked a lot about my favorite supplements & smoothie add-ins. so for those interested in some great super duper foods, here you go!
i am big on smoothies-especially in the warmer months (which, since I've moved to california is all the time!) so my body has been asking for smoothies like crazy lately. i am not a fan of those high in sugar-even if it is just from fruit. i like to make my own smoothies so i can keep the nutrients high and the sugars low. i don't use every single one of these ingredients every single day, but most of them will be added to my daily smoothie(s) at some point. i will give you small descriptions and benefits of my favorites, but find what speaks to you and do some research!
FIRST and foremost- i add a biiig handful (or two) of fresh, dark leafy greens to the blender (i try to switch it up, usually spinach, kale, beet greens, chard, etc...)
then, i add my liquid, which i also like to switch up. i like to add 1/4 c pure aloe vera juice (brightens the skin, aids in digestion, etc..), i'll also add a homemade nut mylk here & there, maybe some beet kvass, kombucha, green tea, MCT oil, or just plain purified water!
PROTEIN. this is important. i am really digging David Wolfe's longevity superfood protein powders, or Dr. Axe's unflavored collagen protein powder at the moment. i usually switch off between the two regularly.
for flavor, i enjoy adding 1/2 c or so of frozen (or fresh) wild organic blueberries, or mixed berries. sometimes i'll add 1/2 a banana, or switch it up and add fresh peaches, figs-anything that's in season-but try to keep it to a minimum. i do looove to add 1/4-1/2 ripe avocado-it makes the texture amazing! plus, good fats kids.
green powders: i discovered that Green Smoothie Girls chocolate greens powder can make even the most disgusting shake taste amazing, and it has some pretty great added nutrients inside. i also like to add her tri-omega powder here & there. i usually add a dropper full of marine phytoplankton (i'll let you do the research on that one-so much goodness!). another favorite greens powder of mine is vitamineral greens from Healthforce Nutritionals, also their macaforce powder is pretty great-for those that know all the magical properties of maca! one of my favorite superfoods. always the option to add organic coffee, matcha or green tea powders for some ENERGY.
SHROOMS! you all know i love 'shrooms. if you don't know why, check out this post. i always always add a mushroom powder or extract to my smoothies. cordyceps (awesome for energy, recovery, and endurance), reishi (immunity & longevity), turkey tail, chaga, there are so many goods! check out David Wolfe's mushroom products here-he carries some good combinations & varieties. oh, and if you really want some good love for your skin, gut, and overall beauty and health, check out Moon Juice Shop products-they make some awesome stuff that i add frequently to my drinks. when i can afford it, that is...ha!
for a happy belly i add some good fibers, sometimes a probiotic or two, i really love Apex Energetics repairvite powder & add it daily. i'll also throw in psyllium, chia or flax for some great fiber love.
FATS. eat. your. fats. i love adding great energizing fats to my smoothies! they always come in different forms and i like to switch it up. my absolute favorite is raw organic coconut BUTTER; it tastes like heaven and is great for you. i'll sometimes throw in some activated almond or tahini butter, raw hemp seeds (a must), or cacao paste (which i usually add a few chunks to the top to crunch on-yum!).
for toppers, like i said, raw cacao usually, cause...chocolate. i almost always add a tablespoon or so of local bee pollen cause it's great for me and i loooooove the taste. then i'll add about a dropper full of vitamin D3. i like this brand-make sure you slurp it up on the top! sometimes i will add a sprinkle of activated buckwheat or hemp seed to the top also-for good measure.
whew! i know that sounds like a lot of info- but just try one new product that speaks to your body and see how you feel! just because i am thriving on these products right now, doesn't mean i will forever and doesn't at all mean everyone else will, but once you have a good variety of super duper magic to make an awesome morning green smoothie of love, it really is easy & fast to throw together!
a green smoothie a day really just may keep the doctor away-actually, i don't remember the last time i went to the doctor for sick reasons! your body is strong and your food is its fuel-feed yourself well and your body will know what to do!
have a happy, vibrant day!

cantaloupe-basil granita // coconut whip
...or for the unofficial cook like myself, this is simply a fancy snowie. the kids and adult guests will dig it.
this dessert is rather easy to make and tastes light & lovely. it can be made with any natural sugar & fresh fruit of your choice!
coconut whip:
3/4 c firm coconut cream (from the top of a can of full fat coconut milk set in the fridge overnight, or make your own)
1/2 t vanilla extract or a pinch of vanilla bean powder
2-3 T sweetener of choice (I prefer raw honey or a few drops of stevia until it is barely sweet)
1 T melted coconut butter*
-add all ingredients to a mixing bowl and use an electric hand whisk to whip up until light and fluffy. set in fridge for 10 minutes before serving.
granita:
1 large cantaloupe, cubed
10 leaves fresh basil
juice of 2 limes
2/3 c coconut sugar, raw honey, pure maple etc...
-roughly chop basil leaves. add to a sauce pan the lime juice & sweetener + 1 T water. bring to a simmer while stirring until sugar is dissolved (about 2 minutes). remove from heat & stir in basil leaves. cover & steep for 20 minutes. once finished, strain out the leaves & add 1/2 of the cantaloupe to your blender along with the infused syrup. pulse a few times and then purée mixture completely. add in the rest of the melon & purée. pour mixture into a 9x13" glass dish, cover with plastic wrap and set in freezer for 1&1/2 hrs. check the granita, when it starts to freeze around the edges, stir with a fork. repeating this process every 45 or so minutes until it all turns icy.
-sugar the rims of 8 small glasses by running a lemon, cut in half along the edge and dunking the rim of the glass in fine sugar (I used lakanto here, coconut works too!). spoon granita into each glass, top with a dollop of coconut whip & serve immediately.

spirulina 'nice cream' protein bowl
spirulina is a blue-green algae that grows in freshwater lakes throughout the world. it's a hardcore superfood with a full-spectrum of easily absorbable nutrients. it is 60-70% protein making it the most potent source of protein on this earth. aside from that, its other nutritional qualities include high levels of chlorophyll, vitamin A, iron, beneficial fatty acids, and is shown to help protect against kidney failure. it is a whole food source and an excellent alternative to protein powders.
black sesame is used in traditional Chinese medicine to nourish & fortify the liver & kidney. said to help blurred vision, tinnitus, premature greying and dizziness. tahini contains more calcium than cows milk.
pure collagen protein is easily digestible and amazing for gut problems as it heals things such as leaky gut. it is unflavored and can be added to anything. be sure to get a grass-fed & natural brand like this one.
most of us already know what raw cacao is & the benefits... the food of the Gods!
nice cream:
3 peeled, frozen bananas
1 t spirulina
2 T collagen protein
2 T nut mylk
-add all ingredients to a high-speed blender & blend until smooth & creamy. pour into a bowl & set in freezer while you make the chocolate.
black tahini cacao magic shell:
2 t raw black tahini
2 T cacao paste
1-2 t raw honey
1 t coconut oil
-slowly melt all ingredients over low heat & whisk well. drizzle over nice cream & top with activated buckwheat, raw pistachios, local bee pollen & fresh raspberries!

chocolate peanut butter breakfast milkshake
in this recipe I use raw wild jungle peanut butter. peanuts are one of the most highly processed & pesticide-heavy crops. most are completely genetically modified and have no nutrient properties. it's rare to find even raw peanut butter. when they roast the peanuts & the oils, they become rancid and hydrogenated. on top of the peanuts themselves not being totally healthy for us, most companies add some other sort of hydrogenated oil to the butter, then a form of cane sugar or HFCS (high fructose corn syrup) and then load it with salt-and not necessarily the good kind! so hopefully you see how spending the little extra on raw wild jungle peanut butter is important to me. you also have the option to buy just the raw jungle peanuts and grind them yourself. now for this tasty treat...
ingredients:
2 frozen bananas
1/4 c young Thai coconut meat (fresh from the coconut or frozen works great!)
1/2 small avocado
2 T raw cacao powder
2 T carob powder (or more cacao)
3 T raw jungle peanut butter
1 T liquid sweetener (a few of my favorites are coconut nectar, raw honey, pure maple syrup or organic brown rice syrup. you also have the option to omit this)
1 T mesquite powder
1/2 T maca powder
2 T unflavored collagen protein (I like this brand)
1/4 t high quality sea salt
-add all ingredients to your blender and whiz up until smooth & creamy. should be frozen still. eat right away topped with raw (in this case grain-free) chocolate granola, cacao paste chunks & hemp seeds. store in freezer.
